Let's go to the Movies!

We took our almost 2 year-old to the movies this weekend. We saw the Muppets, hoping she would love it because she loves Sesame St. I know some would call me a bad mom for taking my daughter under 2 to see a movie (or let her watch a second of tv). But to them I say, "WHATEVS"!

For her, it was magical. She sat in a little booster seat so she could see over the seat in front of her. We gave her a little cup of popcorn. When the previews came up she was totally captivated and kept saying, "oh, wow!" It was seriously one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Seeing her cute little chubby cheeks chowing down on popcorn in the light of the movie screen was so darling! She didn't make it through the whole thing but overall she did so good! I'm excited to share more of these experiences with her.

Procrastinating

I should be studying for this midterm right now. But it always seems that when I muster enough will power to study for any test I think of a billion other things that need to be done. And since I haven't blogged this week I don't feel so bad putting the studying off!

Anyway, after Monday's lecture on social networking I realized it was time to go through my "friends" list and purge a few people. And by a few I mean like 100. I couldn't decide who I should delete. I was afraid that some friends would be offended or I would be weird if I kept people who I don't know that well but like to "stalk". Then I realized, no one sees this but me! So.... I went on a deleting frenzy. I made a few rules. Keep family and people I genuinely like. Get rid of people you have NEVER communicated with on FB. Save friends or people who might be good connections later on. And delete people who make me feel like my life sucks (cause I don't really talk to them anyway). And WOW! It felt so good! I could still delete a few more but then I would only have my mom and a few friends, so I'll save it until they make an annoying comment or something on a picture. It's funny how that works. People on FB walk a thin line with me now. If you say something that annoys me I'll delete you and we won't be friends anymore. So there! Yea, definitely relationally aggressive.

Other blogs

Most of the other blogs I read are friends and family and the occasional home decor blog for ideas. There is one however, that I read for a long time because it made me feel so much better about myself. It's a blog a girl created to make fun of those "perfect" Utah girls. I don't hold a grudge on anyone or think I am better than anyone else. But coming from FL, I felt a new pressure in UT to be "that girl". And no, most girls from UT are NOT like stereotype that has been created. But there are those few that make me roll my eyes and say, "WHY???" You know, the perfect body, perfect hair, mani/pedis every week, her husband in med school but they still have tons of money, gorgeous house they bought while still in college, vacations three times a year, perfect children etc etc etc. So I found this blog that made me see how ridiculous it is to try and attain this kind of lifestyle and that really, NO ONE lives this life! The blog is called Seriously So Blessed. http://seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com/ It ended just over a year ago, but definitely worth reading. TRUST me, it will make you feel normal.
